Responsibilities

This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in order to solve issues and keep the project moving forward (i.e. engineering, operations, craft labor, contractors, outside agencies)
Perform Contract Management
Abide by all safety rules and help establish and maintain a culture focused on safety
Help establish and maintain a culture of inclusiveness and teamwork
Inspection of construction and sitework installations for compliance to drawings and specifications
Utilize computer business tools to monitor and manage schedule and cost reporting
The ability to work across various technologies and systems to achieve the client’s goals
Candidate must be able to adapt to changing work duties, be able to work with limited supervision, and must be able to perform successfully in an individual and team environment
The successful candidate must be available for call outs, holidays and weekends and may require some extended work hours
Must be able to work in extreme climates and environments (e.g., cold, hot, dusty, humid)

Required

Field oversite of active construction projects and processes

Knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations
Knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards
Knowledge of various equipment and technologies applicable to power generation facilities
Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making
Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required
Knowledge and experience with personal computers and the ability to learn numerous software applications quickly
Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative is crucial for this position
Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company
Ability to lead diverse teams toward a common goal
Ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of Southern Company Generation organizations

Preferred

Associates (2-year) or Bachelors (4-year) degree preferred, but not required
Preferred disciplines include Building Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or another related field
Project Management Professional or similar accreditation/professional license beneficial
Power generation experience
Industrial experience
