Transit Technician II
The University of Georgia is the state’s flagship university, committed to higher education and academic excellence. The Transit Technician II is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing defects on fleet vehicles, as well as performing maintenance on transit buses and other fleet vehicles in accordance with industry standards.

Responsibilities
Basic to complex maintenance work on vehicles as assigned by supervisor. Involves troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, assembly and/or installation of automotive and diesel engines, transmissions, large and small electric/pneumatic/hydraulic components, and chassis repairs on buses and other fleet vehicles. Employees are expected to complete repairs within established guidelines under supervision and guidance of supervisor. Be able to repair, diagnose, rebuild independently
Keep work area clean and safe
Complete work order, inventory and parts usage reports and other associated paperwork in a timely manner
Fuel and service late night vehicles to prepare for next day operation. Complete associated paperwork
Attend classroom and other training as available
Perform other tasks
Qualification
Required
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training
Demonstrated ability to maintain heavy-duty diesel vehicles, troubleshoot and repair complex systems such as electrical and electronics systems, climate control systems, diesel engines and transmissions
Ability to use computers for diagnosis, parts look-ups and other tasks
Heavy lifting, work in confined spaces, stooping, kneeling, standing on ladders and work platforms
Driving
Valid driver's license
Georgia class B CDL or equivalent with air brakes and passenger endorsements
