Hall Thruster Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Creates the overall plan for the development of a low-cost Hall thruster
Establishes and leads the Hall thruster development team
Responsible for the overall design architecture of a Hall thruster
Manages the Hall thruster test facility development
Develops the Hall thruster verification and validation plan, including any additional model development required
Develops the manufacturing and test plans to produce a low-cost Hall thruster
Supports the propulsion system in the development of a Hall thruster subsystem
Collaborates with other subsystem team members, in particular feed system and power electronics engineers, for the development of other Hall thruster subsystem components
Develops the roadmap and plans for future In Space Systems electric propulsion developments

Required

Minimum of a master's degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
3+ years of related experience (including graduate work) in the design, development, and flight of electric propulsion systems, and at least 5 years specifically related to Hall thrusters
Established member of the electric propulsion technical community
Domain expert in one or more areas of electric thruster development
Proven experience in the electric thruster development lifecycle
An understanding of low-cost electric thruster manufacturing and acceptance testing
Leadership or management experience as well as a history of mentoring
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Successful candidates in this role typically have 10+ years in the design, development, and flight of electric propulsion systems
Ph.D in a field and with a thesis topic relevant to the development of Hall thrusters
