Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle—from concept, feasibility, modeling, and prototyping to testing and final production release
Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using SolidWorks (including simulations, FEA, GD&T, BOM creation, etc.)
Develop and maintain product specifications, technical documentation, CAD models, and engineering change orders
Ensure all new and modified products meet UL, CSA, CE, and other applicable regulatory and safety standards
Coordinate product testing, validation, and certification processes internally and with third-party labs
Conduct risk assessments (FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA) and lead corrective actions related to design, performance, and safety
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams involving manufacturing, sourcing, quality, marketing, and operations to deliver projects on time and within budget
Manage product development timelines, milestones, and resource allocation
Support vendor evaluations, material selection, and cost optimization initiatives
Provide engineering support for production, quality issues, supplier development, and lifecycle improvements
Analyze field performance, warranty data, and customer feedback to drive product enhancements
Lead design-to-cost, design-for-manufacturability (DFM), and design-for-assembly (DFA) initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related field
8+ years of progressive product development or mechanical engineering experience
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, sheet metal, plastics, etc.)
Strong SolidWorks proficiency
Demonstrated expertise in UL/compliance, electrical safety standards, and certification processes
3D CAD or CAM proficiency
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
Expert-level SolidWorks proficiency (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, simulations)
Ability to conduct engineering calculations, tolerance stackups, thermal and structural analysis
Preferred
Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline
Experience in a manufacturing or regulated industry (spa, appliance, consumer products, or electromechanical device industry)
Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and quality systems (ISO, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering documentation
