Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer

Singularity Quantum Inc. is an early stage startup developing 3D cardiovascular simulation technology to help identify and prevent heart disease. They are seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to design and implement core CFD solvers for their cardiovascular simulation platform.

Computer Software

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize CFD solvers and algorithms for 3D incompressible flow, with emphasis on cardiovascular applications
Develop numerical methods including discretization schemes, pressure/velocity coupling, stabilization strategies, and boundary condition models
Implement and optimize linear algebra pipelines, preconditioning, and GPU/parallel acceleration
Work directly with the CTO to architect solver interfaces (Python/C++/Julia) and integrate with imaging and backend pipelines
Build validation frameworks, automated tests, convergence checks, and benchmarking tools
Operate as a high ownership, self directed engineer capable of independently deriving equations, diagnosing numerical stability issues, and delivering performant, maintainable scientific software

Required

M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
Strong proficiency in CFD fundamentals, including Navier–Stokes equations, laminar/turbulent flow regimes, and boundary condition modeling
Demonstrated experience implementing CFD solvers from scratch (not only using commercial tools)
Advanced programming skills in Python and C++; familiarity with Julia is a strong plus
Ability to translate mathematical formulations into efficient, production quality code

Preferred

Experience with cardiovascular or biomedical fluid dynamics, including stenotic flow, WSS, pressure drop, or FFR modeling
Familiarity with mesh generation or meshing tools (e.g., VMTK, VTK)
Prior experience in early stage startups or high autonomy technical environments
Experience with regulated medical software or scientific computing in clinical settings
