Supervisor Carrier Operations Support

Independence American Insurance Co is seeking a Supervisor, Carrier Operations Support who will report to the Director, Carrier Operations. The Supervisor is responsible for leading a team dedicated to maintaining operational compliance, driving efficiency, and ensuring the successful execution of carrier-related projects and regulatory initiatives.

Responsibilities

Oversee the producer appointment process for carriers, ensuring timely and accurate submission of appointment requests and terminations
Ensure compliance with state-specific appointment regulations and deadlines
Monitor appointment status and resolve discrepancies or escalations promptly
Maintain accurate records of appointments and ensure proper documentation for audits and regulatory reviews
Partner and coordinate with external entities and third-party administrators to support appointment requirements
May coordinate and submit state reporting to Departments of Insurance (DOIs)
Oversee collection, review, and validation of data for regulatory reporting and market conduct exams
Monitor and track compliance issues and incidents; ensure timely resolution of operational issues related to websites, forms, and rates
Lead implementation of operational projects with administrators related to policy handling, claims, and other core functions
Oversee, write and review business requirements for operations-related projects; lead or participate in meetings
Ensure timely delivery of operational materials such as state notices, regulatory updates, and carrier guidelines
Communicate updates and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders
Develop and maintain process documentation, procedures, and workflows for operational functions under Carrier Operations
Identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness; implement process improvements
Monitors individual performance to ensure results meet expected quality and performance objectives
Provides training, coaching and skill development for team members
Assist in the development of performance reviews for skill improvement
Support leadership in staff recruitment, interviews, and training of staff on procedures and job-related functions
Assist leadership on continual evaluation of processes and procedures
Supervise staff and provide daily direction and communication to assigned team members
Schedule and assign work as needed to meet operational priorities
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 6 years of experience in insurance operations, compliance, or a related role
Experience with operations, state reporting, market conduct exams, or producer licensing and appointments is highly desirable
Strong understanding of insurance operations, compliance requirements and producer appointment regulations
Proven leadership and team management skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred

Experience working with third-party administrators and external vendors is preferred
Demonstrated leadership experience is a strong plus including mentoring junior team members
