Electrical Hardware Designer

Force Design Inc. is a custom robotic automation integrator serving industrial manufacturing customers. They are seeking an experienced Electrical Hardware Designer to own the electrical design of custom automation systems, with responsibilities spanning from concept through build support.

Responsibilities

Own complete electrical hardware designs for custom automation systems
Design control panels, power distribution, safety circuits, and industrial networks
Create schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, and BOMs using SolidWorks Electrical
Select and specify electrical components, balancing performance, availability, and standardization
Maintain and improve electrical standards, templates, and best practices
Support panel build and system integration by answering questions and resolving design issues (no hands-on wiring required)
Collaborate closely with controls engineers, mechanical designers, project managers, and shop personnel
Design systems compliant with UL 508A, NFPA 79, NEC, and applicable customer standards
Ensure machine safety systems are properly implemented and documented
Support UL panel requirements through accurate documentation

Required

5–10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design for industrial automation or custom machinery
Proven ability to independently own electrical designs end-to-end
Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical
Broad working knowledge of industrial control panels, power distribution, and machine safety
Design systems compliant with UL 508A, NFPA 79, NEC, and applicable customer standards
Ensure machine safety systems are properly implemented and documented
Support UL panel requirements through accurate documentation

Preferred

Experience in an Engineer-To-Order (ETO) environment
Degree preferred but not required; experience and capability are the priority
Robotic automation (welding, material handling, depalletizing, end-of-line)
Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation platforms
Ethernet/IP and industrial networking
UL panel design and commissioning support
