Responsibilities

Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues
Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations
Recommend and implement improvements to processes and equipment
Lead and/or support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new technology migrations into the plant
Work with other team members and departments to ensure that product output at each process step meets or exceeds manufacturing budgets and goals
We are looking for candidates with a strong level of technical curiosity and deliver creative solutions to technical challenges

Required

Pending Junior or Senior in Engineering Major (preference for Mechanical, Electrical, or Material Science majors)
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27th – July 31st, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
Be willing to work at the posted job location
Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
Ability to demonstrate fundamental understanding through science and engineering skills
Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
Ability to use the scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively
Ability to translate engineering solutions to process requirements that deliver and/or improve performance criteria
Results oriented and high commitment
Motivated self-starter with independent learning style
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

Experience with experimental design
Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC / DESGN) methodology
Process engineering skills (quantitative skills, coursework in engineering statistics or other statistical training, technical writing, ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers and managers)
Innovative and technically curious
