Senior Manager, Market Development & Planning - Category Investment

Responsibilities
Develop and manage the annual Channel and Customer Investment plan, identifying high-impact investment opportunities and setting financial guardrails in partnership with Revenue Growth Management and Finance
Maximizes return on customer-facing investments (trade spend, promotions, pricing actions, assortment, merchandising)
Manages Customer profitability, including channel and customer segmentation, value leakage, high ROI opportunities
Trade Spend Optimization, including trade and promotional budgets allocation and funding that supports strategic initiatives, not just volume
Data-Driven Decision Making, including a standard post event analysis process and scenario models to compare investment alternatives
Track leading indicators, not just end-of-period results
Governance & Controls, including implementing clear approval processes for customer investments, enforcing compliance with pricing and trade terms, and maintaining transparency through standardized reporting and dashboards
Capability Building, including training teams on ROI thinking and financial acumen, as well as continuously refining tools, models, and best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred
7+ years of experience in CPG or durable goods with expertise in brand/channel strategy, insights, category management, or revenue growth
Proven ability to manage multimillion-dollar P&L responsibilities and deliver measurable retail/customer growth
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in syndicated POS/panel tools, forecasting, and financial modeling
Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and engage senior retail customers
Experience working in a matrixed environment and leading cross-functional alignment
Willingness to travel approximately 25%
Preferred
Familiarity with Newell Brands' portfolio (e.g., Rubbermaid®, Sharpie®, Coleman®)
Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools
Experience developing category investment frameworks and optimizing trade spend
