Responsibilities

This individual will be directly involved with engineers and technologists in learning the melting, forming, or glass handling processes
Duties will include assisting Engineering Dept. Heads and Engineers with projects in the plant
A final review will occur with plant senior leadership in mid- summer
Work will include project and process activities. These activities will focus on a multitude of control technologies, including robotics, motion control, vision, and PAC/PLC
We are looking for candidates with a strong level of technical curiosity who are able to deliver creative solutions to technical challenges
Applicants should have the ability to work in a team-based environment and also be able to participate as an individual contributor

Required

Pending Junior or Senior in Electrical Engineering Major
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27th – July 31st, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
Be willing to work at the posted job location
Motivated self-starter with independent learning style
Knowledge of control system theory (PID control, alarming, frequency analysis, control schematics)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with a modern programming language and design (MATLAB, C, C#, Python)
Familiarization with sensor technologies and their implementation
Effective communication & presentation skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work on a diverse project team
Ability to work well in teams
Strong presentation skills

Preferred

Process engineering skills (quantitative skills, coursework in engineering statistics or other statistical training, technical writing, ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers and managers)
Innovative and technically curious
Problem solving and decision making
Results oriented
High commitment level
Familiarization with IEC 1131 programming languages (ladder, ST, FBD, SFC, IL)
