Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) (NYHELPS)
The NYS Department of Transportation is seeking a Professional Engineer 1 to support the Bridge Capital Program in Region 11. This role involves managing bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects, overseeing technical and administrative aspects, and coordinating with various agencies.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Manage consultants for bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement projects
Develop/Review project scope and design reports for bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement projects
Perform field inspections and work on necessary reports in preparation of producing contract documents for structure rehabilitations
Review structural analysis, including those of high degree of complexity relating to the design, estimating, and preparation of contract documents for replacement bridge projects and rehabilitation projects utilizing the Department’s software tools
Review detailed structural drawings, specifications, and estimates for bridge projects
Oversee all technical and administrative aspects of bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement projects
Develop and maintain project schedules using P6 (primavera)
Coordinate with internal and outside groups and agencies; obtain necessary permits
Qualification
Required
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below
One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems
Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees
New York State Professional Engineer's License and current registration AND be a qualified employee of New York State AND have had one year of permanent competitive service as Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation)
Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
