Customer Marketing Manager

The Boeing Company is looking for a Customer Marketing Manager to join their BCA Sales/Marketing organization in Renton, Washington. This role involves managing a team to develop and execute marketing campaigns for commercial customer fleet growth and replacement decisions, while also building relationships with stakeholders and providing strategic insights.

Responsibilities

Lead local team of Boeing Commercial Airplanes regional marketers based in Seattle, providing management guidance, career development support, strategic and analytical insights
Complete quarterly and annual performance management discussions (priority-setting and performance enablement discussions/assessments) and coordinate with the Managing Director on annual salary adjustments and other compensation reviews, as required
Suggest and oversee training and experience necessary for the continued professional and career development of the regional marketing team
Amplify the 'voices of the customer,' clearly articulating the opinions and concerns of our airlines and other commercial aviation stakeholders in the region, supplementing the input of our marketing, sales, and customer support teams
Maintain, and as appropriate, build closer relationships between the regional marketing team and other functions, including but not limited to Strategy, Communications, Customer Support, Safety & Regulatory Affairs, Boeing Global Engagement, and others
Work with the Managing Director to identify major industry themes or trends in the Americas that justify further analysis and study and demonstrate the opportunity for the team to show creativity and thought leadership internally and externally
In coordination with other members of the Americas BCA regional marketing team, maintain and/or develop relationships with aviation-related organizations, including but not limited to regulatory agencies and region-focused commercial aviation industry organizations including regional universities. Support their events as requested and as resources permit to provide BCA perspectives, gather information and perspectives, and promote preference for Boeing Commercial products and services
In coordination with the Managing Director, facilitate regional Airline Planning Workshop planning to strengthen relationships and increase preference for Boeing Commercial offerings among customers and stakeholders. In collaboration with the Americas regional marketing team and Customer Relations, manage the development of a specific agenda and support the logistics of the event, from PRO-6 approval through site selection and invitations to actual event execution and post-event surveys
In coordination with the Managing Director, evaluate the opportunity to host topical workshops or symposia when market conditions dictate
In coordination with the Managing Director, identify and develop plans to support, airshows, conferences, and seminars across the Americas region. Develop a summary of events at the end of each year to guide participation decisions for the following year(s)
In coordination with the Managing Director, manage the team’s participation at selected internal and external events, matching themes and opportunities with team strengths and development needs
Maintain current responsibility as regional marketer for a limited number of accounts in the Americas
Other projects and tasks not called out above, as mutually agreed with the Managing Director

Required

Experience in the Commercial Aviation industry
Experience in BCA regional marketing
Experience in leading teams in a formal and/or informal role
Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required

Preferred

10 years in business/commercial aviation industry
An advanced degree in an aviation-relevant discipline (MBA, MA, MS)
Experience working at an airline, airport, ATM organization, industry supplier, or other stakeholder providing insights into the business and an 'outside' voice
Experience in leadership role(s)
Deep and wide knowledge of the North America and Latin America & Caribbean commercial aviation industry and the region's airlines, gained ideally through hands-on experience with a variety of customers and stakeholders
Bachelors' degree or equivalent in a discipline related to aerospace (e.g., engineering), international commerce and business (international relations, economics), or other field of study supportive of the required skills for airline marketing
Creativity in the ways in which we depict the attributes and value advantages of our products relative to the competition, and a curiosity and willingness to explore new ways of showing data and demonstrating our value premium
Adequate knowledge of Boeing and competitor products and aviation technology to be knowledgeable and persuasive with technical and engineering leaders at our customers
A proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, projecting executive presence when needed but exemplifying humility to peers and direct reports
Proven public speaking skills, whether to an audience of five at an airline or 500 in a conference
A positive attitude, able to cope with the ambiguity and challenges of a complex organization, a highly competitive industry, and a highly politicized environment
