This role focuses on the accurate management of agency resources through general fund accounting and ledger reconciliation, while fostering professional relationships and ensuring effective communication with team members and customers.

Responsibilities

Preparing monthly fiscal statements and reports in accordance with GAAP
Accurately and efficiently processing deposit and withdrawal activity for locally held accounts
Preparing and processing accounting entries
Preparing monthly local fund financial reports, prepare and produce payment for local fund liabilities owed to the Department and other local funds, State of WA, and external entities to include other-State/Federal/County agencies and the courts
Applying policy 200.000 guidelines to payment of outstanding department debt and deductions from incarcerated individual sub-accounts required by statute and prepare release check from incarcerated individual’s account
Recording and reconciling reimbursable activities and ensuring expenditures are cleared from the general fund by AFRS fiscal month close
Processing funds received to the General Fund account by using TMS and keying an A-8 into AFRS
Assisting the Local Business Manager (LBM) with minor tasks related to reconciliation of the general ledger accounts
Completing the fuel card audit
Coordinating with HQ Disbursement Unit to ensure timely payments

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Accounting 201 and Accounting 202 from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent
One (1) year of relevant experience
Relevant experience is defined as Fiscal Technician 2 or above level work
Provided that a candidate possesses a degree focused on accounting or business management/administration: An AA degree can be equivalent to 1 year of required work experience; BA degree or above can be equivalent to 2 years of required work experience
Equivalencies to be reviewed by Comptroller/designee, degrees outside of focused areas will NOT count towards experience requirements

Preferred

A business focused Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent, with minimum 20 accounting credits to include Accounting 201, 202, 203 and Governmental Accounting
