Vice President of Development

Englewood Health is one of New Jersey’s leading healthcare systems, and they are seeking a Vice President of Development to lead all fundraising and development efforts for the Medical Center. The successful candidate will manage a high-performing team, drive the vision and operations of the Development department, and cultivate relationships with major donors to advance the Foundation’s mission.

Responsibilities

Develop and engage the system management team in fundraising
Develop and build strong relationships with Foundation trustees and other volunteers
Help to identify new Foundation trustees
Develop and manage an active portfolio of donors and prospects
Lead and/or participate in donor and prospect cultivation and solicitation
Oversee all aspects of HIPAA-compliant physician engagement and grateful patient initiatives
Develop appropriate publications and communications and direct public relations activities to support all fundraising programs
Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
Recruit, hire and train new staff to maintain a high-performing development team
Supervise staff and manage internal staff relations according to the policies of the Medical Center
Monitor, evaluate and manage staff performance including performance review
Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program
Provide oversight and approval of departmental payroll and pay rule practices

Required

Bachelor's degree
At least ten (10) years of successful fundraising experience—ideally within a healthcare or academic environment
Demonstrated track record of increasingly responsible roles in complex development programs
Significant experience in major campaign planning and execution
Progressively increasing managerial and supervisory responsibilities that reflect proven success in team building
Deep understanding of and commitment to collaboration across organizational lines
History of recruiting, motivating, and managing high-level volunteers
Current knowledge of best practices in development, particularly in healthcare philanthropy
Creativity, independent judgment, and the ability to implement innovative concepts
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in utilizing performance metrics and fundraising technology systems such as Raiser's Edge
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and foster a collaborative environment

Preferred

Advanced degree in a management discipline strongly preferred
