Responsibilities
Work both independently and with the bank’s small business underwriting unit, to underwrite and approve small business and commercial real estate loan requests. While making sure that loan quality standards are maintained position also ensures that the loan requests moves through the underwriting process smoothly and as quickly as prudence allows
Will be actively involved in evolving the Small Business Lending Unit to include adding staff and enhancing loan servicing as the unit grows
Maintains the Bank’s lending and risk policies and standards, along with regulatory compliance guidelines, in all lending decisions
Actively seeks to find loan structure alternatives to requests that are not workable in order to meet the Customer’s and Bank’s needs, while remaining within the Bank’s risk tolerances
Is ultimately responsible for the quality and accuracy of all written documentation of loan decisions and underwriting that is used to support credit decisions
Is active in servicing existing loan portfolios that are assigned and is responsible that periodic servicing has been performed
Performs all additional duties and activities as directed by the Underwriting Manager and or Chief Credit Officer
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Three years of small business and commercial real estate underwriting experience
Strong understanding of personal and business financial statements and tax returns
Strong analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability and desire to make loan decisions and exercise individual loan authority
Ability to work within and lead an underwriting team
Ability to work with customers across our footprint
Knowledge of regulatory compliance
Working knowledge of real estate appraisals/property evaluations
