NETWORK/CLOUD ENGINEER I

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Fortinet-based network infrastructure, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, and FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer
Administer and support Fortinet SD-WAN, site-to-site VPNs, user remote access (SSL/IPSec), and UTM features such as Web Filtering, Antivirus, and Application Control
Participate in the after-hours On-Call rotation, supporting critical networking issues and outages
Maintain and support a hybrid network environment that includes Fortinet, Cisco, and legacy Palo Alto platforms, with a strong focus on Fortinet as the primary vendor
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure network controls align with organizational cybersecurity goals and compliance standards
Monitor and enforce network security policies, firewall rules, and access control in accordance with security best practices and organizational policy
Ensure high availability and redundancy of critical network infrastructure across data centers and branch locations
Administer and tune network monitoring and management systems, including FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and third-party tools for performance tracking and log analysis
Conduct network assessments, firewall audits, vulnerability scans, and contribute to mitigation strategies
Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology diagrams, IP addressing, firewall rules, and standard operating procedures
Support system deployments, upgrades, and patch management for network appliances, with an emphasis on secure and compliant configurations
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated network issues, particularly those involving Fortinet hardware or configurations
Engage in research and development related to next-generation firewall features, evolving Fortinet capabilities, and enterprise network trends

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field – or equivalent hands-on experience in enterprise networking
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a network engineering role, with a strong focus on Fortinet firewalls and security appliances (e.g., FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer)
Proven experience with Fortinet SD-WAN, VPN, high availability (HA) configurations, firewall policies, and UTM features
Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, NAT, and network segmentation in Fortinet environments
Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing Fortinet infrastructure in a multi-site enterprise setting
5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, SIP/VoIP, and SD-WAN
Proven expertise in Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, SD-WAN, VPN), with experience supporting Palo Alto, Cisco Catalyst, Cradlepoint, and Ubiquiti/Unifi environments
Strong background in converged networks, including VoIP deployments and QoS design/implementation
Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking, with experience in packet inspection and protocol analysis using tools like Wireshark
Solid grasp of application-layer protocols such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, FTP, Telnet, and SSH
Working knowledge of security concepts including NAT/PAT, IPSEC, SSL VPN, DDoS mitigation, IP spoofing, and network segmentation
Experience with hybrid cloud networking, especially Azure Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; proven ability to work in collaborative, high-performing IT teams

Preferred

Fortinet NSE 4 or higher certification is highly preferred
CCNA or CCNP certification is also acceptable, though Fortinet-specific experience and certifications will be prioritized
