Remote HVAC Technician - Prudhoe Bay

Responsibilities

Trouble shoots and repairs, as dictated by sound business practices, industrial HVAC equipment, pneumatic control systems, line and low voltage control systems, residential style fuel burning and electric furnaces, unit heaters, kitchen exhaust systems, various appliances, air compressors and other general service areas
Repairs and maintains all the heating, air handling systems and A/C units
Interprets preventative maintenance schedules and carries them through the steps needed for completion as noted on computer generated general maintenance/repair work orders
Trouble shoots and repair large tonnage cooling equipment used in controlled environment such as labs or computer and control areas
Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems related to building climate controls
Lays out the installation of structural and functional components and installs them as required. Fastens parts together to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes
Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises
Pumps specified gas or fluid into system. Starts system, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system
Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems
Tests and repairs various systems and equipment using meters, schematics, drawings and manuals
Install wiring to connect components to electric power source
Attends daily safety toolbox meetings and is required to do job safety evaluations for each job
Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned

Required

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Technician must have EPA Universal certification to work on refrigerant systems
Five (5) years' experience working in a commercial and/or industrial setting
HVAC hands on repair and troubleshooting proficiency in the commercial and industrial settings is required
Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting of pneumatic and electrical line and low voltage thermostats and controllers, routine change of filters
Trouble shoot and diagnosis of airflow problems, monitor glycol pressures and levels
Periodic inspection and monitoring of air conditioning coils to ensure proper airflows and heat rejection
Augmentation of filter changes as required, inspect coil conditions for organic debris and soils
Ensure compliance with EPA
Use the Annual Preventative Air Conditioning Maintenance checklists/job plan provided or by manufacturers specifications
Knowledge and ability to perform maintenance on various types of heating systems is required
Basic knowledge of low to high voltage, 3 phase wiring principles and how to read a schematic
The ability to write detailed, descriptive reports on HVAC equipment and required repairs
A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test
Able to work independently and prioritize workload
Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients
Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation
Must be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp
Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English
Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client
