Grand Jury Clerk

The United States Attorneys Office is seeking a Grand Jury Clerk to provide legal and administrative support while planning and coordinating activities of the Grand Jury. The role includes preparing schedules, maintaining juror lists, tracking transcripts, and processing legal documents.

Responsibilities

Preparing the Grand Jury Schedule for distribution to Criminal Assistant U.S. Attorneys and those appearing before the Grand Jury
Maintaining and updating lists of grand jurors who are impaneled every 18 months and serve weekly
Tracking transcripts of Grand Jury testimony to insure they are received on a timely basis
Using word processing equipment and software to prepare correspondence, lists, and data entry
Process legal documents such as subpoenas, search warrants, and provide administrative support for travel
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress

Required

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement
You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position
To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level
Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: maintaining files, logs, transcripts, and reports related to legal matters; scheduling the appearances of and responding to inquiries from attorneys and witnesses; maintaining official calendars and coordinating scheduling with multiple parties; preparing and submitting requests such as work orders or invoices; delivering or distributing official transcripts or case-related documents; and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys, court personnel, and other participants in legal proceedings
