Responsibilities
Lead and oversee SOX compliance activities across multiple business processes
Partner with stakeholders to ensure internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) are properly designed, implemented, and documented for key financial processes
Plan and execute process walkthroughs, update narratives and process flows, perform risk assessments, and support entity-level control and ICFR testing within established timelines
Assess control gaps and deficiencies and determine potential financial reporting impacts
Drive the development, execution, and tracking of remediation plans for identified issues
Identify and recommend opportunities to simplify, enhance, or automate financial control activities
Contribute to special initiatives, including system implementations and enterprise-wide projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, risk management, or process improvement, including exposure to public accounting or consulting
Hands-on experience designing, evaluating, or enhancing internal controls within complex, cross-functional environments
Experience preparing or supporting financial disclosures and management reporting
Preferred
Background in public accounting, particularly with a Big Four firm
Experience in internal and/or external audit functions
Exposure to the utilities or regulated industries
Prior leadership in SOX or Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiatives
Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP platforms
Professional certifications such as CPA or CIA
