Application Security Specialist
The California Franchise Tax Board is seeking an Application Security Specialist to work under the general direction of the Information Security Oversight Manager. The role involves reviewing application/system architecture, ensuring compliance with security policies, and participating in the department’s application security program.

Responsibilities
Review application/system architecture, configuration, and changes to ensure compliance with information security policies and procedures
Participate in the efforts to define, implement, and enforce the department’s application security program
Perform ongoing security testing of systems/applications activity to ensure compliance with the Department’s Information Security Policy Manual and Security Industry best practices
Qualification
Required
Experience working with application vulnerability scanners and penetration tools
Familiarity with web application security flaws such as those documented in the OWASP Top 10
Experience with app security policies and standards
Ability to perform information systems assessments to verify policy compliance and security standards are in place
Experience with secure coding and development best practices
Knowledge and experience working with web servers, web applications, and multi-tier application design along with various web technologies (admin, use, testing, etc)
Ability to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical & non-technical staff
Experience with application development and system development life cycle
Experience leading large enterprise projects requiring ability to educate and mentor members of project team
Experience preparing reports to management related to progress of activities
Experience recommending strategies for re-engineering information systems
Experience developing N Tier applications
