Clinical Data Analyst

ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory and an enterprise of the University of Utah. The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing clinical and operational data to support data-driven decision-making, performing complex data analyses, and developing solutions that provide accurate and timely information to leadership.

Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the clinical and operational information needs of stakeholders
Queries and analyzes clinical and operational data to glean meaningful insights
Ensures production of meaningful analytic reports, dashboards, and visualizations based on the needs and direction of stakeholders
Develops, collaborates on, maintains, validates, documents, and supports digital solutions using:
Relational databases in Microsoft SQL Server
ETL processes with SSIS
Tableau
VBA, python, or other programming languages
Statistical tools such as JMP, R, or Anaconda
Oversees the quality and consistency of data reporting and analysis
Shares knowledge in methods of data analysis, visualization, and presentation
Collaborates with stakeholders including technical operations management, medical directors, pathologists, R&D, and IT
Actively seeks opportunities to advance their software knowledge, data manipulation skills, and understanding of existing and emerging analysis and statistical techniques and technologies

Required

Responsible for the analysis of clinical and operational data to support data driven decision making
Performs complex data analyses on large data files that contain clinical and/or operational data
Designs, develops, implements, and maintains solutions for providing accurate, complete, and timely information to technical operations leadership resulting in improved efficiency and effectiveness
Demonstrates proficiency in performing information capture, data mining, data aggregation, analysis, visualization, and reporting
Independently interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining and statistical analysis
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the clinical and operational information needs of stakeholders
Queries and analyzes clinical and operational data to glean meaningful insights

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance
Color Vision: Perception of and ability to distinguish colors
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
