Director of Resource Development

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo is dedicated to advancing its mission through comprehensive fundraising efforts. The Director of Resource Development will lead strategies to align donor interests with the organization's work, enhance donor engagement, and oversee fundraising campaigns to drive community impact.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the CEO to set and achieve annual and multi-year revenue goals
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels
Analyze donor and giving trends to support budget development and year-round fundraising activities, including setting annual targets, stretch goals, matching gift opportunities, and long-term projections
Manage and grow relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and planned/legacy giving prospects
Expand donor markets, including corporate sponsorships, stock gifts, capital campaign contributions, and estate/planned giving
Develop and execute strategies for re-engaging lapsed donors
Plan and oversee donor recognition efforts, including mailings, events, and social media
Monitor and report fundraising performance, provide regular updates to the CEO and prepare reports/presentations for the Board of Directors
Participate in the Board led Resource Development Committee
Manage and maintain the Bloomerang donor database and ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping
Partner with Finance to reconcile donor data monthly
In collaboration with the CEO and Resource Development Committee, develop written policies and procedures for the Resource Development Department
Lead writing, submission, and management of BGC grants, including opportunities through for-profit companies, investors, and other assigned funders
Support preparation of program/unit-level resource needs and develop donor communications to address these needs
Lead all aspects of annual fundraising events, from planning to execution
Attend and provide support for BGC community events as needed
Represent BGC at targeted community events, activities, and functions to strengthen visibility and donor engagement
Strategize, plan, and execute annual giving campaigns
Lead efforts to attract new donors, cultivate existing donors, and maintain a healthy donor pipeline aligned with revenue goals
Develop and implement a comprehensive Marketing & Communications Plan to support BGC strategic goals, brand visibility, and community engagement
Ensure brand consistency across presentations, proposals, mass marketing, internal communications, and public-facing content
In collaboration with the Program & Social Media Coordinator, integrate forward-thinking social media strategies and content across platforms to amplify messaging, engage stakeholders, and build new audiences
Oversee the work of the Program & Social Media Coordinator and marketing vendors to ensure alignment with brand integrity and BGC values
Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and BGC goal setting
Support BGC meetings, trainings, events, and initiatives as requested
Promote effective communication and collaboration across all BGC units
Engage with community partners, sponsors, and donors to expand support and advance the BGC mission
Foster an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive environment
Attend all required staff meetings and/or trainings
Display behavior in alignment with the Boys & Girls Club Employee Handbook

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field
2 years' experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, program development, grant writing, strategic planning, and/or financial or wealth management
Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong ability to track and report records, engagements, donations, and other information in an accurate, timely, and clear manner
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with ability to learn new software applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build and maintain strong donor and community relationships
Strategic, analytical thinker with strong business acumen
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and promote equity and inclusion
Regular use of computers and office equipment
Ability to remain stationary at least 60% of the time and perform regular standing, walking, bending, and carrying
Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds occasionally
Frequent communication with team members, donors, and community partners
Must be able to pass criminal background check
Must possess a valid driver's license with reliable transportation to all assigned work locations, along with proof of insurance
Must be approved by Club insurance to drive and/or transport youth in Club vehicles to field trip locations and/or special events, if required

Preferred

Experience in data analysis and staff management preferred
