Senior Manager – API Product Manager

Responsibilities
Product Management of API Integration Capabilities
Define, prioritize, and manage the roadmap for API integration capabilities (e.g., routing, resiliency, common services, cross-domain integrations)
Translate business deliverables and partner requirements into technically grounded product requirements
Ensure APIs and integration services deliver measurable value aligned to strategic goals
Collaboration with Technology Teams
Partner with engineering to guide the build of integration patterns, ensuring adherence to design standards, frameworks, and security protocols
Provide clear requirements and acceptance criteria, ensuring delivery timelines meet business commitments
Connect business stakeholders to technical design decisions, ensuring clarity on trade-offs, sequencing, and expected outcomes
Technical & Governance Leadership
Apply deep knowledge of API design principles (REST, async/event-driven), authentication mechanisms (OAuth2.0, mTLS), versioning, and lifecycle management
Define and enforce standards for consistency, interoperability, and scalability across APIs
Ensure orchestration services incorporate observability, performance monitoring, and resiliency mechanisms
Business Alignment & Stakeholder Management
Work with internal product owners, external-facing teams, and partner managers to align API delivery with customer and partner integration needs
Define KPIs and success metrics to measure impact of orchestration capabilities on adoption, performance, and business value
Serve as a bridge between technical design and business strategy, ensuring API capabilities are positioned as enablers of growth
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of API frameworks, design standards, and authentication mechanisms
Experience with API orchestration/integration patterns, resiliency (canary, blue/green, circuit breakers), and lifecycle/versioning management
Familiarity with observability tools, logging, and monitoring for APIs
Proven ability to own a product roadmap, manage a backlog, and translate business goals into technical deliverables
Experience defining KPIs to measure success of technical capabilities against business outcomes
Strong ability to align technology teams and business stakeholders around shared objectives
Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to business leaders and business priorities to engineers
Track record of influencing without direct authority in a complex enterprise environment
