Responsibilities

Take technical ownership of complex product development initiatives from early concept through verification, validation, and commercialization
Translate loosely defined product intent into robust, testable, manufacturable systems
Drive progress independently in an environment where clarity is created through action
Design, prototype, test, and iterate on integrated hardware systems
Perform system-level debugging across mechanical, electrical, and firmware boundaries
Make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs to balance performance, usability, reliability, cost, and schedule
Collaborate closely with biomedical engineers, regulatory/quality teams, manufacturing partners, and software contributors
Know when to go deep yourself—and when to pull in specialized expertise—without offloading ownership
Keep programs moving without relying on hierarchy or process overhead
Design products intended for daily use in uncontrolled, human environments
Account for durability, comfort, manufacturability, and long-term reliability
Support design documentation, verification, and validation consistent with regulated medical products

Required

8–15+ years of experience developing and shipping physical products, ideally medical devices, wearables, or regulated hardware
Demonstrated ability to own and execute complex engineering work from concept to production
Strong system-level engineering mindset with comfort working across: Mechanical design, Embedded electronics, Power and energy constraints, Integrated product architectures
Experience with connected or data-enabled products
Proven ability to work effectively in ambiguous, early-stage environments
Experience with battery-powered or energy-constrained systems, including power budgeting and lifecycle considerations
Familiarity with embedded systems and interacting with firmware teams at the interface level (even if not writing production firmware yourself)
Experience integrating sensors, actuators, or electromechanical subsystems into user-facing products
Comfort designing for DFMEA, reliability testing, and design for manufacturability
Practical experience preparing designs for verification and validation in regulated environments

Preferred

Exposure to medical device design controls and quality systems
Prior work in small teams where engineers were accountable for outcomes, not just deliverables
Network of trusted external partners (industrial design, EE, firmware, manufacturing) that can be leveraged as needed
