Mechanical Engineer - Bio-Methane

Responsibilities

Designing components and assemblies for landfill/biogas integration: piping, mounting structures, enclosures, gas handling, all of it
Translating field problems and customer feedback into smarter, tougher designs
Running hands-on prototype testing (pressure, flow, environmental)
Creating 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
Building and iterating in the shop tools in hand, sleeves rolled up
Collaborating with Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Field Service to ensure reliability, safety, and top-tier performance
Supporting installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field
Documenting design changes, test results, and lessons learned for continuous improvement
Participating in DFMEAs, validations, and cost/manufacturability improvements
Presenting to senior leadership, execs, and government stakeholders with confidence and tact

Required

Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or similar
3–7 years in mechanical design, product development, or applied engineering
Experience with landfill gas, biogas, or renewable energy? Big plus
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and gas handling
Hands-on mechanical aptitude, you think by building
SolidWorks proficiency
Comfortable with fabrication methods (machining, welding, assembly)
Ability to write in at least one language: Python, C, C#, or C++
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Willing to travel up to 15% and work in variable field conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and move through dynamic environments

Preferred

Industrial controls experience (PLC/ladder logic) preferred
