Quality Lab Technician
Morton Salt is an iconic company with a strong heritage and a bright future. They are seeking a Quality Lab Technician responsible for testing and inspecting products and processes at various stages of production to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspections of equipment, materials, and processes
Conduct routine HACCP (FSP) inspections
Conduct plant inspections of both product and processes, as prescribed by FSQR Manager
Perform calibration of laboratory and foreign material detection equipment, where applicable
Complete analytical test method validation studies
Responsible for analytical testing of in-process and finished product testing according to prescribed procedures and logging of data into database
Test incoming materials and ingredients according to testing schedule
Performs all duties in safe manner observing all EHS standards and laboratory safety guidelines
Performs and maintains legible records of preventative maintenance for all laboratory equipment on prescribed basis
Maintain FSQR document storage and backup system
Provide back-up support for other FSQR technicians on an as needed basis (including vacation/absence coverage)
Work flexible hours and provide after-hours support including weekend operations, as required
Assures compliance with environmental regulations and reports any and all excursions
Maintains current First Aid, CPR/ AED Certification; Blood borne Pathogen Training to provide assistance as required
Assists with training new employees and assures all employees are kept current in their training
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED equivalent, required
First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications-Blood borne Pathogen Training
Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable local/state/federal regulations
Strong knowledge of International Safety Protocol (ISP) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Standards and Regulatory Requirements of FDA, FSMA, HACCP Programs
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and able to manage conflict in a stressful environment
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast paced and challenging site environment
Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels throughout the Morton Salt organization as well as internal and external staff, government authorities, auditors, customers, vendors, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations
Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree, preferred
Minimum of three (3) years related lab experience, preferred
Experience with HACCP, GMPs and BRC, preferred
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel)
