SEMCO ENERGY is launching a new internship program to support its anticipated growth within the Engineering Team. The summer internship offers hands-on experience supporting engineers on Capital and O&M projects, focusing on engineering support for various company initiatives.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers in providing overall engineering support for distribution piping systems, customer measurement, plant improvement, and data analysis projects

Provide engineering assistance for the development of new or updating of existing O&M procedures and Construction Standards

Provide engineering support on other company projects, specifications, and procedures, as required

Assist engineers by providing administrative and project specific documentation organization

Assist engineers to perform greenhouse gas improvement processes

Assist engineers with gathering field data

Participate in site visits to company facilities, potentially including active construction projects

Required

A sophomore, Junior or Senior

Enrolled in a bachelor's degree in an ABET accredited Engineering program, including Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Engineering, or Natural Gas Petroleum

Proven organizational and analytical skills in order to be able to analyze processes, make recommendations, monitor the effectiveness of the department and provide future direction and guidance

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in order to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to provide effective change-management leadership that will effectuate change to support the region's business strategy

Must maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers and management

Must maintain a safe environment for co-workers, customers and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards

Must adhere to Company policies and procedures related to the code of business ethics, compliance, responsible use of Company assets, and all applicable state and federal laws
