Brighterway is a VC-backed startup building AI-powered medical record review tools for the workers’ compensation ecosystem. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve core product systems across frontend, backend, and ML-adjacent workflows, offering real ownership in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain complex, data-heavy web interfaces used by internal ops teams and external enterprise clients

Work with React (TypeScript), modern state management, and component systems

Design workflows for reviewing, validating, and navigating large medical record datasets

Collaborate closely with ops, QC, and product to ship pragmatic, usable features

Design and maintain backend services and APIs (Python preferred)

Own data models, API contracts, and business logic that power ingestion, processing, and review

Build systems that handle high throughput, async processing, retries, and failure modes

Work with cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS), storage, queues, and background workers

Integrate with ML inference pipelines (LLMs, document processing, classification, extraction)

Build tooling around quality control, auditing, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop review

Collaborate with ML engineers on schema design, output validation, and deployment workflows

Make architectural decisions

Improve reliability, observability, and performance as volume scales

Identify tech debt before it becomes a bottleneck

Help set engineering standards and mentor more junior engineers
