Control Systems Engineer III
Dynalectric Company San Diego is hiring a Control Systems Engineer III, responsible for all technical aspects of the project automation scope. This role involves providing technical leadership, ensuring project schedule and quality objectives are met, and interacting with clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including periodic
Peer-review the design work of colleagues to ensure that project quality objectives are satisfied
Direct the design of control systems architectures to satisfy user requirements for communications, integration, data acquisition and redundancy
Direct the development of project related drawing and documentation packages such as wiring diagrams, control panels, interconnect diagrams, specifications and manuals
Direct the specification of instruments, valves and analyzers
Configure, program, test, and troubleshoot control systems and networks
Direct the configuration, programming, testing and troubleshooting of graphical user interfaces
Direct the configuration, programming, testing and troubleshooting of data historians
Direct the development of project test protocols including FAT, SAT and SIT
Prepare detailed design specifications
Direct the configuration, programming, testing and troubleshooting of instruments, valves and VFDs
Lead interactive design reviews with the client and the client’s consulting engineers
Execute FAT, SAT and SIT protocols
Provide onsite support and service for local clients
Prepare recommendations to remediate or update existing control systems to meet client needs (e.g., component obsolescence or additional functionality)
Identify and vet new and/or unfamiliar technologies, products, and services that can reduce client costs or add value
Provide engineering support for the foremen responsible for system installation and commissioning
Provide technical support and training to less-senior colleagues

To perform this job successfully, the individual must demonstrate expertise in four of the performance domains below
Control Panel Design: Panel layout and power distribution, enclosure selection, breaker/fuse selection, I/O selection, loop drawings, VFD selection/configuration, relational database maintenance, UL 508A compliance
Control System Design: System architecture, device level LANs, controller selection, hazard analysis and mitigation, circuits for hazardous areas (XP, IS, NI), safety circuits and interlocks, overpressure relief device selection, specification development, test protocol development, RFI generation
Instrumentation and Final Control Elements: Configuration of and application limitations for common pressure/level/temperature sensor technologies, analyzers, flow meters, toxic and combustible gas detectors. Control valve sizing and selection, regulator sizing and selection, instrument and valve datasheets, material compatibility with common process fluids
Codes and Standards: NFPA 701 (national electrical code), ISA RP-12 (intrinsic safety), ISA S882 (batch), ASME BPE3 (bioprocessing equipment), ASME BPCV4 (pressurized vessels), ANSI B16.55 (pipe flanges and fittings), UL 508A (industrial control panels)
Control System Software Development: Control logic development, graphical user interface development, network configuration, time sequence database development, communication protocols
Preferred
7-plus years' related experience
An undergraduate technical degree (e.g., ChE, ME, EE) from an accredited institution
A control systems engineering PE license (any state)
