Responsibilities

Seeking postdoctoral fellow with interest and expertise in neuro-oncology, molecular neurobiology, multi-omics, and cancer epigenetics to work on high-impact projects in the field of glioma biology, surrounded by the intellectually stimulating cancer environment at Mount Sinai in NYC
The lab’s main research question is to understand how brain tumor (glioma) cells co-opt normal neurodevelopmental molecular programs to maintain their malignant cancer stem cell-like phenotype, focusing on the role of epigenetics and transcriptional regulation
We employ cutting edge computational multi-omics tools combined with cell culture and animal studies using patient-derived glioma models
Currently R01-funded research spans mechanistic (functional genomic and computational) to translational (preclinical drug efficacy) studies with a focus on the role of Hippo signaling in glioma invasion and progression
In vitro cell culture experience, preferably in the field of neuroscience and/or cancer biology
Molecular biology experience (DNA/RNA/Protein-based assays; Epigenetic assays; Cloning; knockdown/knockout using siRNA/lentivirus; etc)
Live cell imaging, Confocal microscopy, Histology
In vivo animal care, orthotopic surgery, drug delivery (optional)
Bioinformatics – coding in R, processing and analysis of NGS data (optional)

PhD required
Strong background in either pure experimental neurobiology (cell culture and animal modeling), or in computational biology and bioinformatics with some experimental biology skills, preferably in the field of cancer biology or neurobiology
Strong motivation and dedication towards independent scientific career in academia
Strong work ethic, ability to multitask and work in a collaborative team setting
For applicants with computational background, at least some experience in sample processing and analysis of bulk and single cell next generation sequencing data is required, including familiarity with UNIX, submitting jobs on a computing cluster, and programming experience in python, R (or equivalent)
