Entry-Level Finance Associate
ATEL Capital Group is seeking an Entry-Level Finance Associate to support the firm’s finance operations and investment funds. The role involves assisting with financial operations, investor relations, treasury management, and portfolio analytics, providing exposure to the workings of an institutional investment platform.
Responsibilities
Support the financial operations of the firm and its funds, reporting directly to the COO
Support the investor relations function in partnership with the Client Relations team for the firm’s venture debt and equipment leasing funds, including: Fund-level projections and financial modeling, Updating investor presentations, Monthly and quarterly NAV calculations, Assisting with quarterly investor letters and reports, Maintaining investor portals for each fund
Manage treasury functions, including cash management and liquidity, portfolio diversification, risk management, and debt financing and repayments
Manage the firm’s bank facilities, including negotiating renewals and amendments, borrowing and repaying lines of credit, interest calculations, and calculating and monitoring monthly and quarterly covenant compliance
Portfolio allocation responsibilities, including: Determining which funds have idle cash available for investment, Allocating new deal flow in accordance with internal policies, Calculating capital call amounts when needed, Monitoring and managing diversification limits within each fund
Partner with the Corporate Controller to update firm-level projections, including forecasting management fees and carried interest across all funds and reviewing the annual budget for corporate overhead expenses
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and projects to support management’s understanding of business performance
Track new deal pipeline activity and maintain internal reporting and analytics tools
Collaborate cross-functionally with origination, credit, legal, and operations teams throughout the deal lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance (strongly preferred); Accounting, Business, or a closely related quantitative field required
0–2 years of relevant experience (internships in lending, private credit, investment banking, leasing, or corporate finance preferred)
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; demonstrated ability to work with financial models and complex spreadsheets
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to internal stakeholders
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial and investor information
Preferred
Strong preference for candidates who were top performers academically, including a finance major with a strong GPA
Prior exposure to asset management, private credit, banking, or investment analysis is a plus, but not required
