Technical Project Manager III

Responsibilities
Lead multiple cross functional medium to highly complex technical projects with minimal supervision
Apply foundational project management methodologies to develop and maintain project plans, including critical path analysis, risk management, budgeting, scope management, waterfall, and agile
Apply deep technical understanding to assess project risks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure alignment between technical deliverables and business objectives throughout the project lifecycle
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
Maintain team alignment and momentum through dynamic changes to project scope as may be required by the business
Monitor project progress and performance, adapting plans as necessary to meet objectives
Own communication across teams and stakeholders, providing regular updates and resolving conflicts
Facilitate and synthesize cross-functional conversations to develop clear, structured timelines for current and upcoming initiatives
Continuously check in on active timelines to ensure accuracy and escalate deviations as necessary
Use technical knowledge to ask probing questions of engineers and fully understand the requirements of projects
Develop relationships with engineers and adjust exact project management techniques to best suit individual needs
Proactively make recommendations for de-risking crucial tasks and/or parallelizing workstreams where possible
Communicate project status information through in-person meetings as well as digital reports
Assesses unusual circumstances and applies sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and recommend solutions
Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggests variations in approach based on evaluation and judgment
Run projects to completion while gathering feedback and continuing to improve the project management process
Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
5+ years of industry experience in technical project management, project engineering, or a combination of engineering and technical project management roles (excluding internships co-ops and academic projects)
Leverage prior hands-on technical experience (e.g., Research development, Systems engineering, Mechanical engineering or similar) to effectively manage complex projects, translate technical requirements, and communicate with engineering teams
Ability to work independently on complex projects involving diverse scopes, requiring thoughtful analysis and evaluation of multiple factors
Demonstrated judgment in selecting appropriate courses of action, with accountability for assigned project areas and escalation at key decision points
Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, including those unfamiliar with technical subject matter
Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging and influence across cross-functional teams
Experience advising on complex or unfamiliar issues and serving as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure project alignment and clarity
Demonstrates foundational knowledge of project management principles, tools, and methodologies in technology manufacturing and product development environments
Understands the unique challenges of early-stage environments or hybrid manufacturing and technology workflows
Identifies opportunities to improve workflows or communication processes and recommends adjustments that enhance team efficiency or product outcomes
Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders by clearly and persuasively communicating project status and needs
Strengthens team and organizational networks by sharing information, aligning priorities, and fostering collaboration across departments
Serves as a go-to resource for team members on project coordination questions and may informally guide others through complex or unfamiliar project phases
Demonstrates the ability to capture and maintain a high volume of detailed information with accuracy and consistency across multiple projects
Applies working knowledge of engineering design, including core principles, analytical techniques, and industry-standard practices and procedures
Exhibits exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint
Preferred
6+ years of industry experience in a technical project management role (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
Experience with Microsoft Project and task planning platforms
Previous experience in a start-up environment or fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Prior experience as an Engineer or a Project Engineer
Experience managing projects with design, development, installation, and verification of technology hardware or chemical process systems and equipment
PMP, CAPM, or similar certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification also meet this criterion
