Arts & Events Specialist

Foothills Park & Recreation District is dedicated to enhancing community health and play through various recreational services. The Arts & Events Specialist will oversee program development, implementation, and evaluation within the Arts & Events Department, managing staff and ensuring positive community engagement.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily operations of assigned specialty program areas and community events
Daily operations of assigned program areas, includes catalog updates and submission, event planning and execution, and data entry into registration system
Fiscal accountability by providing input and familiarizing self with all aspects of the budget to ensure that all resources are managed effectively and within budgetary constraints. Prepare purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests
Assist in preparing short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue streams, identify grant opportunities, etc. Develop and implement strategies to increase usage of assigned program areas. Calculate program fees to meet cost-recovery goals. Formulate comprehensive business plans by researching and analyzing market information is essential
Assist in fund-raising, sponsorship, and grant writing efforts to provide additional funding for Arts & Events projects
Develop, implement, and track results of all marketing strategies; notify the public of events. Promote a positive image of the Arts Program to the public. Participate in community planning and organizational meetings
Hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies. Coordinate and prepare contractual service agreements for instructional staff
Develop and maintain relationships with District employees, vendors, and various outside users groups to coordinate their programs and special events
Determine community needs by evaluating programs, classes and activities; make recommendations for improvement and future development, and implement changes. Survey and educate the community on Arts offerings
Prepare, enforce, maintain and modify policies and procedures manuals; conduct periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answer questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally
Recognize emergency and dangerous situations by reacting quickly and calmly; administer first aid as needed. Completes Accident/Incident report
Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Survey participants to determine satisfaction and needs
Correct or inform supervisor of any facility hazards; communicate issues/complaints to supervisor as needed
Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recreational services
May substitute teach as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Fine Art or directly related field and three (3) years arts administration or instruction; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and years of experience
Two (2) years supervisory experience or equivalent
Current certifications in AED/CPR and First Aid or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment
Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment

Preferred

Experience working in a performing arts setting is preferred
