Administrative Specialist II (Eligibility Determination Unit)

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is seeking an Administrative Specialist II to support the Division of Rehabilitation Services' Eligibility Determination Unit. This role involves reviewing and analyzing various information to prepare applications for eligibility determinations, requiring independent judgment and adherence to agency policies.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze various reports from dual electronic case management systems to manage office workflow
Prioritize tasks based on federal eligibility requirements
Manage and track case follow-up to secure medical documentation or arrange diagnostic examinations
Identify and coordinate support services such as ASL, foreign language interpreters, transportation, and child care needed to complete medical and psychological assessments
Schedule and manage intake appointments
Identify and prepare cases for transfer to appropriate field office
Make recommendations for procedural enhancements
Obtain, analyze and interpret records for required data and disability documentation
Prepares and analyzes monthly reports
Analyzes legal requests for consumer documentation
Ensures electronic case records are accurate and complete
Explains DORS policy/procedures to consumers, the general public, and referral sources
Responds to consumer crisis situations, providing information and community resources
Process invoices for payment and resolve billing questions

Required

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience

Preferred

Experience using a case management database software program
Experience processing invoices or billing management
Experience using excel spreadsheets
Experience reviewing information for content and accuracy
Experience working with people with disabilities
Applicants must consent to a State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency
