System Analyst (40 hrs/wk 260 Days)
Washoe County School District is seeking a Systems Analyst to bridge user requirements with the capabilities of their information systems. The role involves technical resource support, participation in cross-functional teams, and implementation of computer-based solutions to meet user needs.

Responsibilities
May serve as an enterprise systems backup administrator, as required
Serves as technical resource to lower-level information systems personnel
Participates in cross-functional team projects and may serve as sub-project team leader
Assists in implementation and documentation of systems testing and validation procedures, including access, file structures, and protocol
Provides training to less experienced technical users
With minimum supervision, analyzes user requirements, develops and implements computer-based solutions by analyzing user needs, develops an overall model, sequences tasks to be implemented, develops and implements procedures for problem segmentation, inter-module linkage, and system validation
Modifies existing programs and coordinates with schools, departments, and training staff in developing user acceptance procedures and end user training
Consults with systems users concerning technical issues, providing technical training to less skilled users, as required
Assists skilled technical uses in producing complex reports for end users and in formatting and extracting information for management decision making and state and federal reporting
Performs other duties related to the position, as assigned
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer systems design, implementation, and operation, or in a related field, such as mathematics, accounting, etc., or the equivalent in education and experience
Two (2) to three (3) years of professional data processing experience in a mainframe or client/server environment, including one (1) year of programming experience, or the equivalent in education and experience
Possession of a valid Nevada Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the District
Principles, practices, and procedures required to maintain UNIX-based solutions in a wide range of problem domains
Principles, tools, and techniques as applied to modifying and documenting programs relating to languages, such as SQL, C++, or applications such as Visual Basic; Internet and Web management; database maintenance; Microsoft network configurations and security; end user applications such as Microsoft Office
Ability to extract logical commonalities among classes of problems to select appropriate data structures and algorithms to achieve efficient problem resolution with a minimum of supervision; functional and technical aspects of school district computer systems, operations, and communications; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; principle methodologies and procedures for documentation
Maintaining effective working relationships with others and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
Participating in cross-functional project teams and interacting cooperatively with colleagues and users in a project-orientated environment
Reading, interpreting, and applying written information with a minimum of supervision; writing technical documentation and working with training staff to develop training programs to train end users
