Mid-level Systems Engineer
Blu Omega is dedicated to supporting mission-critical cybersecurity operations at the NIH. As a Mid-Level Systems Engineer, you will analyze, design, and implement complex systems to ensure the security and integrity of vital healthcare and research systems.
Responsibilities
Analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system specifications to support effective solutions
Assist in designing, developing, integrating, and implementing complex hardware, software, and network components
Support system modeling, simulation, and analysis activities to evaluate performance and integration
Identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues across diverse domains such as networking, storage, and computing
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the system lifecycle—from design and implementation to operation and maintenance
Support risk assessments and propose strategies for risk mitigation to enhance system security and stability
Ensure systems adhere to applicable standards and compliance requirements, including federal cybersecurity guidelines
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts and principles
Experience with system analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
Familiarity with hardware, software, and network components within complex IT environments
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting and communicate technical information effectively
Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking skills
Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards
Preferred
Experience with system modeling and simulation tools
Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA, HHS, or DHS CISA guidelines
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco CCNA
Prior experience supporting enterprise-level cybersecurity operations
