Responsibilities
Process and verify all invoices biweekly, ensuring appropriate approval levels are confirmed
Ensure both accurate and timely payments of invoices are made requiring proper check runs are performed
Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other accounting records as directed
Reconcile accounts payable transactions, monitor accounts to ensure timely payments, and research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
Prepare biweekly expense reports detailing citywide payments for the Commission and the public
Assist the Sr Staff Accountant with maintenance of the physical inventory of city fixed assets, and assist with budget maintenance
Assist the Payroll Manager with payroll preparation
Other accounting-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration
Two (2) years of progressive experience in accounts payable, government accounting services, or related field
Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
Experienced with business applications and accounting software
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to critically think and resolve issues
Ability to deal with confidential information appropriately
Strong attention to detail and interest in accuracy
Highly professional and dependable
Preferred
Experience with MUNIS ERP systems
