Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the estimating team during the bidding phase by identifying, evaluating, and selecting vendors based on essential criteria such as price, quality, and delivery speed
Ensure that all parties adhere to the terms and prices quoted in project bids and lead negotiations to establish new agreements when necessary
Prepare and process purchase orders within the system to ensure timely and accurate procurement transactions
Oversee the receipt of goods and services, verifying them against purchase orders prior to invoice processing by Accounts Payable
Conduct thorough analyses of invoices from subcontractors to determine if any overages are justified and obtain management approval before payment is released
Resolve various vendor-related issues, including defective products, pricing discrepancies, and delivery challenges
Maintain comprehensive and organized records documenting all purchases, inventory levels, and supplier information
Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement requirements and align purchasing activities with broader business goals
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience preferred
If no formal education, then 5 years of relevant experience is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with vendors and internal staff
Strong negotiation skills enable the Purchaser/Subcontracts Manager to secure favorable prices and terms for goods and services
The ability to analyze market trends, financial reports, and relevant data is crucial for making informed procurement decisions
Exceptional organizational abilities are required to manage multiple tasks, maintain order, and ensure attention to detail
Familiarity with computer systems, procurement software, and the Microsoft Office Suite is essential for efficient workflow
A solid understanding of purchasing procedures, company policies, and budgetary limitations is vital to fulfilling the responsibilities of the role
