Responsibilities
Responsible for the civil and structural design for assigned contracts in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements
Incorporate the use of Structural Department standards, software, and applicable design codes and standards in the preparation of all design assignments and proposals to meet customer specifications and code requirements
Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer specifications, local, state and federal regulations and standards
Responsible for the preparation of engineering analysis and design of structural steel and reinforced concrete systems in compliance with customer specifications, local, state and federal regulations codes and standards
Responsible for the development and implementation of civil engineering plans and specifications in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements
Ensure any variance and scope changes are acted upon and documents them in accordance with the cost and quality management process
Organize, direct, and coordinate all design assignment activities for assigned contract and proposal work in accordance with Corporate Policies, Guidelines and Procedures Manual and Department requirements
Maintain effective communication and working relationships within the department and between departments thus promoting a cooperative team atmosphere
Write work scope documents and specifications, coordinate and review work performed by engineering partners
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering is required
5+ years civil or structural engineering experience
Proficiency in heavy Industrial structural steel and foundation design
Strong knowledge of design and analysis methods for structural steel and reinforced concrete structures, IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, AWS, API, NFPA, OSHA and other applicable codes
Proficiency in RISA3D or similar fine element analysis-based structural analysis and design software
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deal with ambiguity and competing priorities
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex engineering concepts and solutions to team members and clients
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering problems
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
A commitment to continuous professional development and learning
Ability to sit or stand at a desk using a computer 90% of the time
Ability to travel 10% of the time to client sites
Must be aligned with Core Values and Beliefs that drive UCC's existing corporate culture
Preferred
Master's degree is preferred
Knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Advanced Steel, Navisworks, Civil 3D is preferred
Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, regulatory approvals is preferred
Advanced knowledge of environmental engineering, grading site development, hydrology, stormwater management, and Civil 3D is preferred
General business acumen
Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain license within 1 year is preferred
