Engineer - AI Economics
SemiAnalysis is an independent research and analysis firm specializing in the Semiconductor and AI industries. They are seeking an Engineer – AI Economics to build and extend internal models that quantify the cost, scalability, and economic performance of modern AI systems. This role focuses on simulation, modeling, and technical rigor to translate technical performance into economic outcomes for various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Build and maintain internal models simulating AI training and inference economics
Engineer tooling to compare performance and cost across model architectures, accelerators, and system configurations
Analyze how changes in model design, software stacks, and hardware roadmaps affect long-term AI cost curves
Collaborate with research analysts to translate technical outputs into economic insights and forecasts
Continuously refine assumptions using real-world benchmarks and deployment data
Qualification
Required
Background in ML/AI, CS, systems engineering, or applied engineering
Strong programming and modeling skills (Python preferred)
Deep curiosity about AI infrastructure and economic tradeoffs
Ability to reason across hardware, software, and economics
Full-time role based in the United States
