Responsibilities

Own and operate site shops (i.e. – data center, vehicle and cell) electrical systems – medium and low voltage power distribution systems, UPSs, transformers, busway power delivery, switchgear, mechanical cooling system power distribution etc
Support engineering for the design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of facility electrical components and systems, including load flow analysis, equipment evaluation, grounding systems, substations, and power system studies
Assist in coordinating downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and manufacturing teams to minimize disruptions
Support electrical distribution improvement and resiliency projects using system risk analysis, power monitoring data, and detection methods
Assist in troubleshooting electrical system problems, breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and tracking electrical load/capacity planning, including Protective Relays, Sequence of Operations, and SCADA
Utilize CMMS system for reactive and preventative maintenance scheduling; assist in systemizing electrical system assets
Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities to optimize impact of daily operational decisions on facilities budget
Support oversight of equipment installation, operation, and maintenance to meet Tesla specified parameters
Coordinate with system customers including data center IT, Central Utilities systems, Supercharging, Megapack, Solar, Manufacturing

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
2-5 years of operational facilities experience (data center, semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) supporting high-tech infrastructure
Lead field execution during commissioning and troubleshooting of facility system operational issues using first principles
Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines
Experience with Medium Voltage equipment, including operation/maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and familiarity with relays
Demonstrated quick thinking abilities to reduce system downtime while accurately determining root cause with strong technical reasoning and data analysis is required
Working knowledge of electric utility substation and distribution power systems, UPSs, switchgear, and ability to read electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.)
Familiarity with electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols, and applicable codes/standards (e.g., IEEE C37, C57); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584
Knowledge of NEC NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NETA-ATS, NETA-MTS, and electrical OEM recommendations
