Responsibilities

Champion the front end of the innovation pipeline by working directly with inventors and technical teams. Uncover novel ideas, shape raw concepts, and transform them into compelling, protective IP assets
Lead a creative and strategic process that aligns technical insight with long-term IP value
Identify and develop high-potential assets for enforcement, licensing, and strategic partnerships
Collaborate closely with business units to understand product roadmaps, market dynamics, and competitive threats
Ensure IP strategies are proactively aligned with business goals, enabling value creation, risk mitigation, and innovation protection
Contribute to the development and management of a global patent portfolio in collaboration with top-tier law firms
Develop prosecution strategies that maintain and expand competitive advantage, ensuring the portfolio is robust, relevant, and aligned with Murata’s global power business roadmap
Focus on building, maintaining, and utilizing a patent portfolio that is aimed at providing an unfair competitive advantage in both high-power and low-power application domains

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
3+ years of professional experience in patent prosecution including experience at a law firm or in-house position
Experience in harvesting inventions from an international engineering team
Strong understanding of power management ICs, analog/mixed-signal design, or related circuit-level technologies
Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills
Experience managing an international patent portfolio with knowledge about foreign filing requirements and procedures

Preferred

PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
Experience in the semiconductor or electronics industry
Current knowledge of state-of-the-art and future trends in power electronics technology
USPTO registration as a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney
Familiarity with voltage regulators used for applications such as optical and digital communication networks, cloud-scale high-performance computing, and AI servers
Demonstrated ability to originate and develop novel patent assertion theses, including articulating technical, business justifications and risk mitigation; experience in claim charting, licensing models, IP strategy, and competitive landscape analysis
Prior experience in interacting with or working at multi-national organizations
