Senior Nuclear Medicine Specialist (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) - Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute

Responsibilities
Consults with physicians or laboratory managers and technical staff in developing and revising procedures
Researches requirements for proposed procedures, abstract data acquisition methodologies and data processing protocols
Determines need for and obtains special equipment. Modifies existing or continuing education and training criteria to incorporate usage of these special devices
Serves as project team coordinator with Nuclear Medicine specialty technologists in implementing and performing new procedures. Understand exposure limits (A.L.A.R.A) to person, patient, staff and public
Provides training and instruction on new procedures and equipment usage
Assists technical employees with resolution of more difficult technical problems and instructs or demonstrates appropriate techniques and/or methods
Uses non-nuclear related equipment as needed, including patient monitoring devices, life support systems, special physiological gating device and testing apparatus
Have basic MRI knowledge and/ or has worked with Siemens MRI or PET equipment also appreciated (onsite training available)
Able and willing to help position patients and or not limited to phantoms on the MRI scanner
Work with fellow researchers
Be able to perform quality control testing of imaging and non-imaging equipment (onsite training available)
Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; processing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (including the completion and verification of exams)
Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining regulatory CME requirements. Attends educational workshops (PEAK)
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Performs other related duties
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in science field or equivalent
2 years developing and documenting laboratory procedures
3-5 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine and/or PET preferred
Current registration with one or more of the following, as applicable: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), New York State Department of Health (DOH)
Preferred
IV certification or experience with intravenous administration of radiopharmaceuticals preferred
