Responsibilities

Design, model, simulate, and optimize mechanical designs and models
Create test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations
Perform tolerance analysis, characterize devices, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause
Work with and/or mentor other team members to optimize and finalize design for full production and to meet all specifications
Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians. Provide technical support for customers and suppliers
Support process development and production teams
Perform and/or support design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Required

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in optical transceiver design
High proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using NX, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
Experience in manufacturing methods such as machining, die casting, plastic injection molding, and sheet metal forming
Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management tools
Expertise in GD&T
Experience in applying statistical tolerance stack-up techniques
Experience with thermal design/simulation, and familiarity with thermal interface materials
Ability to perform stress analysis and FEA-driven design optimization
Experience in DFMEA principles

Preferred

MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline
Familiarity with optical alignment, die attach, and optoelectrical packaging
