Responsibilities
Engage with shipyards, customers and other stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation
Have flexibility with work assignments and may perform duties outside of traditional discipline work scope
Work with multi-discipline teams on incorporation of SSNA design principles
Solve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and overall ship requirements
Be able to effectively communicate with both internal leadership and external customer(s)
Be prepared to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
The position will requires individuals who are able to adapt and adjust to support objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
Preferred
Technical work of complex applications with the ability to recommend technical direction for work assignments
Work lightly monitored by senior engineers/management for accuracy and completeness
More complex analysis and tool usage demonstration for work to be performed
Candidate's skill set shall include the ability to create and present presentations to customers with minor guidance and self-preparation
For white papers and reports, candidate will be either a contributor, author or lead, depending on task size. If lead of a task, primary responsibility will be technical oversite of a small team with little written contribution
Appropriate level of technical acumen to verify other engineer's work
Author formalized calculation packages documenting work performed in a conclusive and succinct manner
Leadership skills for the development and guiding technical work of junior engineers
