Responsibilities

Assist in the inspection of commercial driveway permits, right-of-way utility encroachments, erosion control, traffic control devices, and roadway construction
Inspect contractor performance including guardrail repairs, long arm mowing and roadside mowing
Perform routine inspection on a variety of projects to ensure general compliance with plans and specifications
Submit required records, reports & diaries within specified time frame

Required

Must obtain and keep current QMS Asphalt & Concrete Testing Certifications
Roadway Density Certifications
Erosion Control Certificates Levels II & III
Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in conducting independent, moderately complex inspections, with limited supervision
Experience independently conducting inspections for compliance with contract agreements and specifications
Experience in maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
A working knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories used in highway maintenance
Knowledge and skill in the use of computers, software, and basic mathematics
Must be able to effectively communicate the English language
The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle
Safety-toed shoes required
