Criminal Investigator (Training)
USCIS is seeking a Criminal Investigator (Training) to join the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate. This role involves supporting the training program through curriculum development, direct instruction, and providing expertise in law enforcement training relevant to immigration fraud prevention.

Responsibilities
Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate and are assigned based on the need of the agency
Modify training program curriculum and resolve complex curriculum related problems requiring considerable research to incorporate new concepts and innovations applicable to the mission, and submit course revision recommendations for review and use
Establish and maintain professional contacts with leading educators, trainers, practitioners, researchers, and others in education and training institutions, research organizations, and law enforcement programs
Provide expert advise and assistance in current instructional technology an adult education theories, principles and practices to students, fellow instructors or managers
Develop and maintain professional collaboration, coordination, and liaison with members both external and internal to the organization, including other agencies, coworkers, supervisors and managers
Create and maintain documentation to ensure the training program meets with existing standards, and documents program operations in relation to these standards, program design, and existing policies and procedures
Developing and implementing law enforcement training relevant to law enforcement topical areas including but not limited to tactics, patrol, investigations, human behavior, interviewing, communication skills, legal topics, and firearms safety

You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position
Successfully pass a Background Investigation which may include a financial disclosure
You must pass a drug screening
You must submit resume and supporting documentation
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
You will be required to travel frequently and on short notice
You may be required to complete a pre-employment medical examination which may include a psychological evaluation and be found to meet the medical standards for the position
You may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Physical Fitness Test (PFT) or Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT)
You will be required to maintain the ability to perform the rigorous physical requirements of the job
You will be required to live within 50 miles of your duty station
You will be required to testify at court, Law enforcement officers and agents must be able to testify without concern of impeachment
Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant
The date immediately preceding an individual's 37th birthday is the last day for application submission (certain exclusions apply)
Applicants must be 21 at the time of application and under 37 by the closing date of this announcement, unless they have prior federal law enforcement service under special retirement provisions
You will be required to sign a Mobility Agreement
This position requires the selectee to carry a firearm
A mandatory component of continued employment is the requirement to successfully complete the Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) and the FDNS Special Agent Training (FDNS SAT) located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position
Developing formal recommendations to modify existing policies, procedures, or control techniques relating to law enforcement training
Communicating orally with various sizes of audience to transfer knowledge of law enforcement techniques, practices, procedures, and regulations
Instructing law enforcement training curricula in one or more of the following areas: use of force, control tactics, firearms, interviews/interrogations, investigative tactics, cybercrimes/emerging technologies, or physical fitness
Conducting a broad range of sensitive investigations in areas such as immigration crime, fraud, human trafficking, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, or other investigations that relate to public safety
Preferred
Have you successfully completed a federal law enforcement training program or an equivalent accredited law enforcement training program (including but not limited to those provided by the DEA, FBI, FLETC or comparable federal, state, local or private-sector training program)?
