PIPE & MACHINERY REPAIR SHOP SUPERVISORY

PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking a Pipe and Machinery Repair Shop Supervisor. The role involves overseeing the Pipe Shop operations, managing personnel, and ensuring the timely completion of projects while preparing production status reports and coordinating work assignments.

Responsibilities

You will prepare production status reports describing delivery status and forecast, schedule problems or delinquencies and schedule recovery actions
You will assess progress with planning, procurement; manufacturing and delivery
You will provide long and short range planning for each assigned project
You will plan, schedule and assign work to subordinate supervisors, shop planners and staff
You will coordinate work projects and workers to appropriately balance support for all assigned projects
You will direct the execution control process of the project
You will perform the full range of personnel and administrative supervision over the assigned workforce

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in managing shop operations, repairs, and overhaul through subordinate supervisors
Experience in practicing analytical management techniques, including production and material control, cost control and personnel management
Experience managing and developing long term training for various departments
