Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems

Required

Military education requirements are mandatory prior to appointment
Completion of compatible Avionics Air Force Technical Training School required
Must have been awarded a compatible primary and duty AFSC prior to appointment
Must have a successful completion of at least one military professional education course program
CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard
Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required
Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity
Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position
WG-13: 2A071, 2A271, 2A272, 2A273, 2A374, 2A375, 2A871, 2A872, 2A971, 2A972, 2A973 Non-PAFSC/DAFSC applicants are encouraged to apply for the positions if experience is held, however must become compatible before appointment
Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance
Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards
Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
Posses experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge to perform duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes
Ability to collect and analyze data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade
Must have at least 18 months experience or training demonstrating the ability to repair, overhaul, rebuild, align, and adjust complete multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated aircraft
Applies comprehensive knowledge of all major units of the complete multisystem
Able to determine proper sequence of operations and start point in sequential operations in order to pinpoint areas of malfunction
Extensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electromagnetic propagation, electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumatic control and power systems
Broad knowledge of the interactions among a number of closely integrated complex systems
Knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry, to calculate power relationships, signal phasing, etc
Ability to interpret drawings for multisystem complexes such as the complete electronics package for an aircraft
Ability to isolate malfunctions of complete multiple integrated systems consisting of closely interrelated fire control, bombing-navigation, flight control, countermeasures or similar systems
Performs on-equipment or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft, and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems
