Responsibilities
Perform Linux system installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance across physical and virtual desktops
Implement and maintain SaltStack configurations to enforce system baselines and automate repeatable tasks
Contribute to sprint-based engineering efforts focused on endpoint reliability, compliance, and lifecycle management
Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across a large fleet of Linux systems
Execute operational procedures for OS/software updates, re-imaging, and break/fix scenarios
Participate in change management processes and maintain accurate technical documentation
Collaborate with engineers and IT support teams to ensure endpoint compliance and functionality
Qualification
Required
6+ years of experience supporting large-scale Linux desktop environments in production settings
Strong hands-on experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux, including imaging, patching, and support
Proficient in configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
Experience writing scripts in Bash and/or Python to automate common system tasks
Familiarity with sprint-based or agile project work
Experience with tools like Jira for task and incident tracking
Clear communicator with strong attention to detail and follow-through
Must be local to the Bay Area and able to work onsite at Foster City HQ at least 3 days per week
Preferred
Experience supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments
Familiarity with VMware-based VDI platforms and management tools
